Evander Holyfield returns to the ring against Kevin McBride on June 5th

Former world boxing champion will come out of retirement and return to fight after 11 years against Irishman who already defeated Mike Tyson

Former world boxing champion Evander Holyfield will come out of retirement and return to the ring after 11 years. The veteran will face Kevin McBride on June 5th, at a location yet to be determined. The announcement was made through the 'Thriller Fight Club', the company organizing the fight.

It was speculated that Holyfield would return to the ring in a duel against his rival Mike TysonHowever, the negotiations did not progress. Evander's team even accused 'Iron Mike' of refusing a US$25 million offer to make the fight official. The fight would be scheduled to take place on May 29th, in Miami (USA).

At 58 years old, Evander Holyfield is a former world champion by the World Boxing Association (WBA). His record in the noble art is 57 fights with 44 wins, 29 by knockout, 10 defeats and two draws. His last fight was in April 2010, when he beat Brian Nielsen via fast track in the eighth round.

Holyfield's opponent Kevin McBride also returns from retirement for this fight. The Irishman hung up his gloves with a record of 46 fights with 35 wins, 29 by knockout, 10 defeats and one draw. His last fight was in July 2011 when he was knocked out by Polish Mariusz Wach.

The peak of 's careerThe Clone Colossus' was in June 2005. On that occasion, the Irishman knocked out Mike Tyson in the sixth round. The fight would be marked at that time, as the last professional fight of 'Iron Mike'.
