VIDEO: With Covid-19, Carcacinha clarifies fight cancellation at UFC Las Vegas 24

Outside of your commitment against Bill Algeo No. UFC Las Vegas 24, which takes place this Saturday (17), Ricardo Carcacinha confirmed the situation. Diagnosed with Covid-19, the featherweight (up to 65,7kg) used social media to talk about the situation and showed optimism about the future. With the cancellation, the Brazilian is awaiting recovery to promote his first fight of the season.

“I bring you not very good news. My fight was canceled once again. I tested positive for Covid-19. Unfortunately, it happened. Last Tuesday, I took the test and it was negative. Yesterday, Tuesday (13), I took the test again, when I arrived in Las Vegas (USA) and it was positive. I’m out of the fight”, confirmed the combatant, on his account on Instagram.

Even without being able to perform this weekend, Ricardo showed optimism about the future. The athlete took the opportunity to thank him for the support he received and will wait for his recovery to take the next step in his career.

"The best is yet to come. I never stop believing that when something bad like this happens, it's because something better is waiting for me up ahead. Thank you for all the support,” he signed off.

No UFC Las Vegas 24, Carcacinha would have the opportunity to recover from the tough defeat suffered against Lerone murphy, in July 2020. At the time, the Brazilian ended up being knocked out in the first round and his streak of two victories ended.

Out of action, the cut marked the second cancellation of a fight for the Brazilian, in 2021. A month ago, the São Paulo native had a fight scheduled against Zubaira Tukhugov, but the duel ended up falling apart after the Brazilian's rival was injured.

At 25 years old, Ricardo has a positive trajectory within Ultimate. So far, the fighter, who is trying to reach the top 15 in the featherweight division, has five wins in seven commitments with the organization's gloves.
