Aljamain Sterling reveals that he will undergo neck surgery and sets a deadline for his return

UFC bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg), aljamain sterling, you will have to stay at the shipyard for a few months. O 'radio master' announced that he will need to undergo a surgical procedure on his neck and gave an estimate of when his return to the Octagon will be. The statement was given in an interview with podcast 'Weekly Scraps'.

“I was trying to avoid surgery, but it won't work. But I'm not going to be gone for nine months. I'll probably fight around August, September, October. Let's see how my body fares after the procedure and how I progress. Obviously, the less time the better, however, I can ease my path to return”, declared Sterling.

With a record of 20 wins and three losses, aljamain sterling Controversially became bantamweight champion. At the UFC 259, during the title dispute, the North American received an illegal knee from the champion Petr yan, which led to the Russian's disqualification. With the decision, the 'radio master' became the winner of the fight and consequently won the division's belt.

The controversial end of the fight caused a huge discussion among MMA fans, and made the two fighters exchange barbs on social media. A rematch was expected in the coming months, however, with Sterling's departure, the division's scenario could be redesigned.
