One of the protagonists of the last event promoted by ONE Championship, held on Wednesday (7), Eddie Alvarez could not contain his emotion and burst into tears after being disqualified in the clash against Iuri Lapicus. The images released by ‘MMA Island’ show the North American inconsolable and in tears backstage at the event. The American received a red card after delivering repeated blows to the back of his rival's head.

In the final moments of the confrontation (see below), it is possible to notice that Alvarez throws consecutive punches to the back of Lapicus' head. In the first blow, the American was warned by the match referee, Justin Brown. Afterwards, Eddie continued attacking his opponent and, again, was warned. Without interrupting his actions, the driver interrupted the duel.
Former UFC lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg), Eddie had the advantage in the fight at the time of the interruption. The result, however, marked the North American's second setback in three commitments for the Asian company.
With the defeat, Alvarez is momentarily removed from winning the third belt among major MMA organizations in the world. In addition to Ultimate, the athlete also holds a Bellator title.
