the decision of Kamaru Usman to accept a rematch against Jorge masvidal it wasn't random. Welterweight champion (up to 77kg), the Nigerian did not take kindly to his points victory against the North American in the UFC 251 and promised a new outcome in the new confrontation, confirmed for April 24th. In an interview with 'ESPN', the division leader explained what he intends to do against 'Jesus das Ruas'.

“Honestly, I don’t think I broke it the way I wanted to. It's something that satisfies me when I face these guys. I think years ago, (Jon) Jones talked about this. When you're there (in the Octagon) with your opponent, there's such an intimate moment where only you and your opponent know what's going on. Only you and your rival know how heavy the other's hand is. With Masvidal, I don’t feel like I broke him like I would have liked,” said the champion.
Leader of the welterweight division since 2019, Masvidal has shown himself, with each engagement, capable of delivering great performances. Undefeated in Ultimate, the fighter has been charting a perfect trajectory, but, deep down, the Nigerian believes he can do more.
“With everyone (I faced), I know I broke them. I know I broke their spirit, their heart. That's what I'm looking for (against Masvidal). It's addictive to me and that's why I continue. Break them in a way that they wake up in the morning and remember me”, he concluded.
When they faced each other for the first time, Jorge accepted the title shot with less than a week's notice. The North American agreed to 'save' the UFC 251, replacing Gilbert Durinho, cut from the clash after contracting Covid-19.
In the fight, Masvidal didn't have much of a chance. Victim of the Nigerian's grappling, 'Jesus das Ruas' produced little and ended up dominated for around 25 minutes, losing by unanimous decision from the judges.
