The city of Batié, in Cameroon, was celebrating in the early hours of this Sunday (28). Around 5 am local time, thousands of fans took to the streets to cheer on the prodigal son Francis Ngannou. After the knockout of the African representative against Stipe Miocic, UFC 260, the crowd erupted in celebration (see video below).

In the video, released on Instagram, it is possible to see the effusive celebration of the Cameroonians. Ngannou left the city of Batié at the age of five to head to France and ended up living on the street and in need in the European country, where he immigrated in pursuit of his dream of being a fighter. The reward came in UFC 260, by knocking out the then champion Stipe Miocic and win the Ultimate heavyweight belt (up to 120.2kg).
At 34 years old and with a professional record of 16 wins and three losses, Francis Ngannou He is the third African Ultimate champion today – alongside the Nigerians Kamaru Usman e Israel adesanya. The triumph against Miocic still marked a comeback for the Cameroonian, who had been dominated by his rival at UFC 220, in January 2018. In addition to Miocic, Ngannou has great triumphs over: Curtis blaydes, Cain Velazquez, Junior Gypsy e Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
