Thiago Tavares denies using anabolic steroids at UFC São Paulo

The Brazilian Thiago tavares was caught in the anti-doping test UFC Sao Paulo, an event held on the 19th, in the capital of São Paulo. But despite the organization's official announcement, the fighter from Santa Catarina, who lost on the show to the Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov, revealed that he does not know Drostanolone, an anabolic steroid found in his exam.

Through an official note sent to the press, this Friday (08), Thiago says that he requested a retest of the exam from Ultimate and guarantees that his trajectory in the octagon will not be affected by this problem.

“My career will not be affected by another obstacle. We have already asked the UFC for proof, and we await the results of the analyzes so that action can be taken”, said the fighter in an official statement sent to the press.

“I am surprised by the suspicion of doping announced by the UFC!

In 13 fights, I was subjected to anti-doping tests seven times and was never accused of using any illegal substance, as I have always valued my career a lot over all these years and would never be able to use something that was not permitted.

My medical team is working to investigate all supplements or medications used inside and outside Brazil in recent months that may have given this false positive on the test. The analyzes are being carried out in specialized laboratories, by researchers from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, as well as all medical procedures are being investigated.

I have been experiencing a succession of events that have tried to shake up my career, such as postponed fights, injuries, etc., and that prevented me from fighting last year. But I am confident that my career will not be affected by this obstacle. We have already requested proof from the UFC, and we are awaiting the results of the analyzes so that action can be taken.”
