Tyron Woodley says he wants to 'turn his career around' before retirement

With three consecutive defeats, former champion faces Vicente Luque at UFC 260 and reveals that he is thinking about returning to the top of the welterweight division

Considered one of the best fighters in the history of welterweight (up to 77kg.), Tyron woodley he's not having a good time in Ultimate. The former champion says he is bothered by the negative sequence of three consecutive defeats and plans to resurface to win the duel against Vincent Luque, which occurs in UFC 260 this Saturday (27).

“I see myself controlling the paths I can win. I trained, I put my body on 'fire'. I'm ready to go, perform and turn things around. I will do this against (Vicente) Luque and just focus on who is in front of me. Every fight is a fight and, after that, it's time to think about another great fight and performance. If I can do that, I think I'll be fine," Woodley said in an interview on half day do UFC 260.

About to turn 39 years old, the American hasn't won a fight since 2018, when he defended his belt against Darren till. Since then, Woodley has seen action three more times, but was ultimately defeated by Kamaru Usman – when he lost the belt, Gilbert Durinho e Colby covington. Despite this, he says he doesn't plan on retiring on a low.

“Giving up is not an option. I have to come out on top. It's not like this. I didn't lose quality, although I was defeated by three of the best. Still, I'm still a better fighter than all of them”, concluded the fighter.

Although he hasn't won his last three fights, Tyron woodley occupies seventh place in the welterweight rankings. Currently, the North American has a record of 19 triumphs, six setbacks and one draw in his career.
