Francis Ngannou promises not to repeat the mistakes of his first fight against Stipe Miocic

After achieving the long-awaited rematch, the French-Cameroonian stated that, at UFC 260, he will not seek the knockout at all costs, as he did in the first fight

With the opportunity to face again Stipe Miocic this Saturday (27), for the heavyweight title (up to 120,1kg), Francis Ngannou expect a different ending this time. Defeated in 2018, the French-Cameroonian promised not to repeat the mistakes of his first fight, which took place at UFC 220. The statement was made in an interview with the website 'BT Sport'.

“That time, I went for it, and that was one of the biggest mistakes I made. I set out to knock him out, and that's something I've never done, although almost all of my fights I've won that way. (…) The time I went after him, I didn't do well”, stated the 'Predator'.

After the setback to Miocic, Ngannou was defeated by Derrick Lewis, but turned things around and started a streak of four consecutive victories. Among the rivals defeated by the 'giant' are the former heavyweight champions, junior gypsy e Cain Velazquez.

Current heavyweight leader, Stipe Miocic has a record of 20 wins and three losses. The 38-year-old fighter is coming off two consecutive victories over Daniel Cormier and has already beaten big names in the history of the division such as Fabricio Werdum e alistair overeem.
