The wait seems to be over. Retired since October 2020, the hiatus in his career Khabib Nurmagomedov may have come to an end. After a meeting with former UFC director Lorenzo Fertitta, the Russian appears to have decided to resume his career. On his social networks, the lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg) sent a direct message to the company's president, Dana White.
See too
“It was good to see you, Lorenzo. Dana White, send me the location”, wrote the 'Eagle', in his account on Twitter.
Khabib's message is common in the martial arts world and is generally used when an athlete accepts a certain commitment. Since he announced his retirement after the UFC 254, the Russian has been the target of White's advances, who has always remained optimistic about the return of one of his biggest stars.
after winning Justin gaethje and unify the lightweight belt, Khabib surprised fans and stated that he would not compete professionally again. At the time, the Russian was justified by the premature death of his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, who passed away as a result of Covid-19, in July of last season.
Since then, Dana has been holding regular meetings with the champion. In the sport for more than 20 years, the president never gave up hope that his pupil would return to the Octagon.
If he confirms his return, Khabib will make his 30th appearance as a professional in mixed martial arts. If he wins, the athlete will fulfill a personal wish of his father, who dreamed of seeing his son retire from the sport undefeated in 30 matches.
