The heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) of the UFC, Derrick Lewis, is known for his high number of knockouts. Record holder for fast track victories in Ultimate, one of them has a special flavor for the 'giant'. In an interview with podcast 'Joe Rogan Experience", "The Black Beast' revealed that the victory over Alexander Volkov, at UFC 229, in October 2018, was his favorite career outcome.

"Against Alexander Volkov (at UFC 229), it was my favorite knockout, yes. The way the crowd reacted was cool too, it made it even more satisfying,” Lewis said.

The heavyweight also declared that he wanted to have a fight in the style of the film 'Rocky', by Sylvester Stallone. By facing a Russian opponent (like Ivan Drago, 'villain' in the fourth installment of the franchise, from 1985), Lewis said he was happy with the outcome.

In the battle against Volkov, Derrick had been dominated for three rounds, when with less than ten seconds to go, he landed a cross that knocked the giant down. Lewis only needed a few more blows with his opponent on the ground for the referee to stop and declare him the winner.

“I was telling my coach during my preparation that since I was going to fight a Russian, it would be cool to have one of those 'Rocky'. And, of course, it was”, said the heavyweight.

With the trampling on Curtis blaydes, in February this year it also became, alongside Vitor belfort, the athlete with the most knockout wins in UFC history, with 12 fast track wins for each. Furthermore, the North American took second place in the category ranking.
