UFC announces public return in April with super event and three title fights

The president of the franchise, Dana White, announced the return of the public with a super event and three title fights. The trendy UFC 261 will be held on April 24th, in Jacksonville, Florida (USA).

Through a video released on UFC social media, the director announced the return of fans in the arenas with maximum capacity. "How is everyone? I've been waiting a year for this day to say: We're back. UFC 261, April 24th, will be in Jacksonville, Florida, with a full house of fans,” said White.

The director also announced the three title fights of the night, including the fight against the Brazilian Jessica Stacker against the women's flyweight champion (up to 56.7kg) Valentina Shevchenko. In the main fight of the night, the Nigerian Kamaru Usman defends his position as welterweight champion (up to 77.1 kg.) in the rematch against Jorge masvidal. Still on the program, Chinese Weili Zang defends the strawweight belt (up to 52) against Rose namajunas.

“A full card in front of 25 thousand UFC fans”, concluded the president of the franchise.

More than one event without an audience

O UFC 261 will mark the return of the public to the franchise's arenas after more than a year without fans. The last time fans were able to follow an Ultimate attraction up close was on UFC 248, on March 7, 2020, in Las Vegas (USA). In this ocasion, Israel adesanya defended the middleweight belt (up to 83.9 kg.) against Yoel romero.

The following week, on March 14th, the UFC Brasilia, but with the Covid-19 pandemic spreading in the country, the Federal District government vetoed the presence of the public. Since then, fans have been banned from attending events
