Women's MMA has not yet debuted in the UFC, but the rivalry between the sport's two main athletes gained a new chapter this Thursday (31). The Brazilian Chris Cyborg, former Strikeforce featherweight champion, spared no criticism of the American Ronda Rousey, who arrived in Ultimate as the show's first female champion in the bantamweight division.
Through his Twitter account, Cris assured that he is not afraid of facing the former judoka and promises to make a sacrifice to cut weight and face the UFC muse. “I'm not afraid of Ronda Rousey, I will fight her anywhere and anytime for free. Everyone knows that I can barely reach 65,8 kg (featherweight category limit), but I'm willing to sacrifice myself and face it with a limit of 63,5 kg (combined weight)”, said Cyborg. The fighter also did not spare Dana White, president of the UFC. For her, the manager wants a fight with an advantage over her rival.
“I can't believe Dana White said I don't want to do this. What he wants me to do is fight Ronda with both hands tied behind her back or weakened so she can have a chance.”
The series of provocations continued and the Brazilian went even further. Cyborg promised to beat Ronda with just one hand. “To shut everyone up, I will fight with one hand tied behind my back at 63,5 lbs and still kick her ass and prove that I am the real champion, not her. Let's go, Ronda Rousey, accept it”, he concluded.
The debut of women's MMA in Ultimate takes place at UFC 157, an event scheduled for February 23, in Anaheim, California. The fight program features as its main attraction the dispute between Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche.
