Fabrício Werdum has a confirmed opponent for his PFL debut; Kayla Harrison begins title defense against Brazilian

Fabricio Werdum he already has a date and opponent to debut in his new home. The black belt, former UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120.3 kg), is looking for the US$ 1 million prize in the Professional Fighter League (PFL) tournament. In his first fight, scheduled for May 6th, in Atlantic City (USA), the Brazilian will face his compatriot Renan Problem. On the same card, the two-time Olympic champion and current winner of the lightweight tournament (up to 70,3kg), Kayla harrison begins the defense of his throne.

Just like Werdum, Renan Problem will also have his first fight in the PFL. The 31-year-old from Goiás has a record of six wins and two defeats. In his last fight, in August 2019, he defeated Jared Vanderaa, at LFA.

In turn, Werdum will debut in his new home after nine years in the UFC. In his second stint in Ultimate, he became heavyweight champion after defeating Cain Velazquez, in November 2011. Fabrício chose to leave the company after winning Alexander Gustafson in his last fight under his contract, in July 2020. 'Vai Cavalo', as he is known, has a professional record of 24 wins, nine losses and one draw.

Kayla Harrison begins reign defense

In the second most important battle of the night, the North American Kayla harrison will defend the title won in 2019, when facing the Brazilian debutante Mariana morais. The São Paulo native has a record of 16 wins and ten losses and arrives in the PFL after playing in the national event 'Shooto Brasil'.

The two-time Olympic champion debuted in MMA in 2018 and since then, she has been undefeated with eight wins. Kayla was the women's lightweight GP champion in 2019 and is the main favorite for the 2021 edition of the tournament.

The PFL 3 fight program will also feature the debuts of Mohammed Usman, brother of UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, and veteran Cindy Dandois, former Ultimate athlete.
