After silencing the critics and defeating Israel adesanya No. UFC 259, held last Saturday (6), in Las Vegas (USA), Jan Blachowicz There are plenty of reasons to smile. After retaining the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg) in the superfight, the Pole let off steam and did not hide his relief at the triumph. An underdog at the bookmakers, the champion spoke about his achievement at the press conference.

Category leader since September 2020, when he beat Dominick reyes and took over the post left by Jon Jones, Blachowicz won his first title defense. The athlete, however, ended up being overlooked by sports enthusiasts when Ultimate decided to hold a clash against one of the biggest names in MMA in recent years.
Against Israel, Blachowicz encountered some difficulty at the beginning of the match. Fast, the Nigerian surprised the Pole with some attacks. Jan, however, managed to 'enter the fight' over time and began to control the actions throughout the confrontation.
After five rounds, Jan was declared the winner with a unanimous decision by the judges and confirmed his good form. The athlete has not lost a challenge since the setback to Thiago Marreta, in 2019. Since then, there have been five consecutive victories.
