the controversial alistair overeem returns to the octagon, next Saturday (02), willing to have a chance to fight for the UFC heavyweight belt. After being suspended for doping in April last year, the Dutchman faces the Brazilian Antonio Pezão, at UFC 156, and a victory will give him the role of the champion's next opponent Cain Velazquez.
Confident of victory against the Tupiniquim heavyweight, Alistair exudes confidence for the duel and promises to make Pezão just a statistic after the confrontation.
“I am better than Antonio Pezão. The fight should end in the first or second round. I will have my hand raised and he will just be a statistic, another number on my record. I want to finish him in the first round. I have the power to leave him unconscious for a long time”, said Overeem, in an interview with the North American website MMA Mania.
The former Strikeforce champion also revealed what he expects from Pezão for the fight. According to him, the Brazilian will look for the ground fight, but Overeem promises to surprise the Brazilian in the ground game.
“I believe Pezão will try to take the fight to the ground, but I know I have an advantage there too. I'm better at striking, on the ground, I have more knockouts in my career, and more submissions than him. I’m better at everything and I’m going to show it.”
