Next Saturday (6), Israel adesanya could become the fifth fighter in UFC history to simultaneously become champion of two divisions. To do so, he will have to overcome the Polish Jan Blachowicz in the fight for the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg), in UFC 259. But, unlike some predecessors, the Nigerian has already warned that he will not abandon his original category and that he will continue with the middleweight title (up to 83,9kg).

“I'm going back to the division. I've been thinking about some things, but that's for later. Definitely returning to my category is my goal. I want to keep my division moving.”, Adesanya told the website 'MMA Junkie'.

Undefeated in MMA, the fighter also spoke about how he prepared to fight in the top category. The 31-year-old athlete stated that he maintained the same preparation as in previous commitments.

“No weight cutting, I'm just doing what I always do. We're keeping the same energy during fight week, too. I think it's silly to add more muscle for this competition when my strength got me to 'prom'. I trust my body and I trust my abilities.”, stated the Nigerian.

In addition to the opportunity to show off his second belt in the company, Adesanya will try to increase his 100% success rate in mixed martial arts. Today, the Nigerian has 20 consecutive victories. In its latest challenge, Israel brutalized Paulo borrachinha and made his second title defense at middleweight.
