Bellator 86: Douglas Lima wins and advances to welterweight GP semifinals

The Brazilian Douglas lima is in the semifinals of the Bellator welterweight GP (up to 77 kg.). In action in the 86th edition of the event, held on Thursday night (24), in Oklahoma, the Tupiniquim athlete abused leg kicks to defeat Michail Tsare by technical knockout. The triumph marked his 23rd MMA win.

In the duel, Douglas managed to avoid the Russian's dangerous game of takedowns and unleash his sharp striking. With an arsenal of shin strikes on his right leg, the Brazilian undermined Tsarev's movement in the first round and took the win in the second round via technical knockout.

Another highlight of the night was the premiere of Muhammed “King mo” Lawal of the organization. The former WWE star and former Strikeforce champion took no notice of Przemyslaw Mysiala and knocked out his rival in just over a minute of the duel.

In the main fight of Bellator 86, American Ben Askren showed why he is considered one of the best athletes in the welterweight division. The North American punished Frenchman Karl Amoussou until medical interruption in the third round.
