The light weight (up to 70,3kg.) of the Ultimate, Kevin Lee, is close to his return to MMA. The American, who is recovering from serious injuries that kept him away from the Octagon since March 2020, prioritizes a rematch against the former interim champion of the division, Tony Ferguson. The duel could take place in the second half of 2021.

“I will fight with Tony Ferguson. I think this fight makes sense from every angle. I don't see anyone else out there for him to fight and (the fight) puts us back where we should be. A fight between us will decide who should stay and who should leave. It's a fight that interests me in the second half. We'll see what he says, but it's a priority on the list”, reveals Lee, in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.
The last fight of Kevin Lee went against the Brazilian Charles of the Bronx, UFC Brasilia. Since then, he has dealt with injuries and surgeries on both knees that took him out of action all year. Now the 'Motown Phenom', as he is known, says he is almost ready to fight again.
“I would say I’m about 80% (recovered). I'm healing like Wolverine and speeding up the recovery process a lot. I say that maybe in two months I will be ready to start a training camp”, concluded the fighter.
The fighters competed for the interim lightweight belt at UFC 216, in October 2017. On that occasion, 'Bicho Papão' submitted Lee in the third round and won the division title.
At 28, Kevin Lee has a record of 18 wins and six losses. Currently, the North American occupies 12th place in the lightweight rankings. Already Tony Ferguson, which is 5th in the division, is also coming off a defeat against Charles of the Bronx and has a record of 25 positive results and five negative results.
