The current welterweight champion (up to 77kg) Kamaru Usman continues its rivalry with the North American Colby covington. In an interview with the North American website 'MMA Junkie', the Nigerian criticized the former interim champion for refusing to face Leon edwards, in a fight offered by Ultimate, in the confrontation that could define the next challenger in the category. The group leader and the North American faced each other in the UFC 245.

Kamaru Usman also remembered that Colby is not a great salesman pay-per-view and stated that ifChaos' beat Edwards would give him another chance to challenge him. Since that didn't happen, the 'bad boy' will need to face (and beat) another member of the top-5 to get the chance.
“Covington also doesn’t sell that much pay-per-view. For him to demand something like that is ridiculous. The best way for you to solidify your title shot is to fight. A good way to do this is to defeat number three. Edwards is rising, stating that he deserves a chance, and Covington made a tremendous mistake in turning down this fight,” he concluded.
