Former champion of the lightweight category (up to 70 kg.), Frankie Edgar will have the opportunity to become the third fighter in history to win the Ultimate title in two different categories. But to do so, the North American has to take the featherweight belt (up to 66 kg.) from the Brazilian José Aldo. The fight will be the main attraction of UFC 156, an event that takes place on February 2, in Las Vegas.

Focused on his next commitment, Edgar rules out thinking about a possible return to the lightweight category. According to him, his thoughts are only on the fight against the Brazilian athlete.

“Right now I'm not thinking much about the future, as I have a big battle ahead of me. Aldo is one of the most dynamic fighters out there, I would say he is more explosive than all the athletes I faced at lightweight,” said the American in a telephone press conference.

Edgar, who is known for his great movement and effective takedown game, revealed his tactic for the fight: putting Aldo on his back in the octagon.

“I'm ready for the takedowns to come, ready to fight on the feet and to test myself. And I know that no one has been able to take him down yet, but I’m not afraid of going for the takedowns”, concluded Frankie.
