Executioner of Gilbert Durinho No. UFC 258, which took place last Saturday (13), in Las Vegas (USA), Kamaru Usman showed respect to the Brazilian after defending the welterweight belt (up to 77kg.). Moments after the victory, the Nigerian used social media to pay tribute to his former training partner. The athletes were teammates for about eight years.

In the week of the confrontation, Usman had already made it public that the Brazilian would be the biggest challenge he has ever faced inside the octagon. Against the Niteroi native, the champion had a hard time in the first round, when he was surprised by his rival's heavy hands, even falling at one point.
With his experience, however, the Nigerian managed to recover in the confrontation and dominated the Brazilian in the following rounds. In the third stage, the champion managed to end the dispute with a tough knockout.
After the triumph, in addition to maintaining the title, Kamaru surpassed Georges St-Pierre's mark of 12 consecutive victories. Now, with 13, the champion reigns supreme within the group.
