Although he failed in his dream of winning the welterweight belt (up to 77kg.) in UFC 258, held last Saturday (13), in Las Vegas (USA), Gilbert Durinho sold the defeat dearly to Kamaru Usman. Analyzing the confrontation against the champion, the Brazilian admitted mistakes that he considers crucial for a challenger. In a press conference after the show, the Niteroi native spoke about the subject.

“I was too excited. I connected punches and that was my mistake. I hit him really hard and wanted to finish it. It's in my nature. I should have been more relaxed, stuck to the strategy, kept doing what I know”, said the Brazilian.
Knocked out in the third round, Gilbert surprised the champion in the first round, taking his rival to the ground after connecting with a right cross. After the attack, the Brazilian continued to press and even shook his opponent. Experienced, Usman knew how to get around the situation and recovered in the confrontation.
In the third round, the Nigerian returned the punishment and ended the confrontation with a hard knockout. The victory marked Kamaru's third title defense.
