Boxer Washington Silva won an important victory this Thursday. The Brazilian defeated Ghanaian Bastie Samir, 9-7, in the boxing tournament at the Beijing Olympics, in the light heavyweight category (up to 81kg).
With the triumph, the Brazilian reaches the quarter-finals of the competition and will face Kenny Egan, from Ireland, next Tuesday, who eliminated Bahram Muzaffer, from Turkey. If he wins the next fight, Washington will guarantee a medal, as there is no bronze fight in Olympic boxing.
