“Poirier deserves to be champion, that’s my personal opinion. Look at who he fought: Jim MillerEddie Alvarez Anthony Pettis e Max Holloway. He has also fought with me and Conor (McGregor). They are all top fighters, who may enter the UFC Hall of Fame. (…), I don’t know what Dana White is thinking, but I believe the lightweight division is on fire now. It was always the most competitive, with big stars. There is a new generation emerging and it also has (Michael) Chandler, (Charles) Oliveira, (Dustin) Poirier, (Justin) Gaethje, who are good fighters. With this mix, it will be interesting,” said Khabib.

Despite Dana White's attempts to return, the Russian seems certain that he will not return to action, although he does not rule out a new meeting with the president.

“I'm focused on my own big projects and I have to spend time on them. As for my fighting career, I don't want to go into details. Dana is an honest person, we have always had a good relationship. I think he will let the media know the message I sent him a week ago. It's no secret, I just told him how I would like things to develop, not only in relation to me, but also to lightweight in general. I told (Dana) that I don’t want the division to stand still”, concluded the fighter.
