Brazilian women's strawweight prospect says she was surprised by the messages from fans on social media and reveals her desire to fight in the first half of 2021

So, knowing how to lose is knowing how to look at what I made mistakes to improve (…), and do you know something that surprised me? I received messages from people close to me asking me not to go on social media, but I did anyway. And (there were) a lot of people sending good messages, with constructive criticism. EVOLUTION AS A FIGHTER

Still talking about her career evolution, Amanda points out the need to improve her stand-up game. According to the Brazilian, the setback will also serve as a 'lesson' so that in the future she will be even more prepared for moments of glory or difficulties.

Of course I was quite upset, but sometimes I needed this defeat so that, maybe one day I fight for the title, I'll be even more prepared. I always try to look at the positive side”, highlighted the Brazilian.

'SUPERSTAR' POTENTIAL

Ribas also spoke about the weight of being considered one of the biggest promises in women's MMA. She reveals that she tries not to put pressure on her career.

“I think it's cool that everyone sees great potential in me. Even though I fought well, even with the defeat, I was able to see a lot of gaps in my game. So it shows that I can improve. There is pressure, but if I put it on my shoulder, it’s a lot of weight”, he clarified.

Before the fight against Marina Rodriguez, the Brazilian had said that she dreamed of the possibility of competing for the title this year. However, with the setback, she will need to get back on track before achieving her goal. For her, losing is also part of a process of building her way to the top.

“It taught me to be more than a fighter. There are a lot of people who beat their chests, but lose a fight and can't get back up. I don't consider myself a fighter. I consider myself a 'mat warrior'. I've lost many times, especially in jiu-jitsu, and I know that defeat teaches. Of course it leaves a bitter taste that I don't want anymore. (…), I won over an audience that didn’t even dream of watching the fight, but watched it because of me. They see that I am a girl who talks and laughs a lot, but I know how to fight and defend myself”, said Ribas.

NEXT STEP

Without choosing her next step, Amanda assessed who she could face in her recovery. Currently, the Brazilian remains in the top 10 of the division and still plans to face someone above the ranking, in addition to evaluating her possible opponents within the category. She also says that there is a possibility of fighting again in the first half of 2021.

“I think the game that best fits mine is Carla esparza, because if I can't take her down, at least I can keep my distance. I already want to go back at the end of April or May and I still want someone better ranked. Regardless of who they offer above me, I will be well satisfied,” she concluded.
