VIDEO: From the hands of Cormier, Khabib receives the '2020 Submission' trophy in Ultimate

Retired since October 2020, Khabib Nurmagomedov continues with morality within Ultimate. The last recognition for the Russian star's achievements took place last week, on 'Ilha da Luta'. On that occasion, the lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg) had an interview interrupted by his friend Daniel Cormier, who handed the '2020 Ultimate Submission' trophy into the hands of his teammate (AKA).

The award in question was in honor of the submission achieved over Justin gaethje, in the confrontation that sealed Khabib's MMA career. On that occasion, the Russian 'erased' the North American and unified the category title.

Longtime friends, Cormier and Khabib are famous for their comedic videos promoted on American kickboxing Academy. Without shying away from the games, the two once again enjoyed a moment of relaxation.

“For the man who has everything. My brother, I want to give you the honors of the UFC: 'Submission of the Year', for the beautiful choke on Justin gaethje. All those jiu-jitsu classes I gave you in American kickboxing Academy they were worth it,” said Daniel.

Khabib was happy for the honor, but instantly tried to correct DC about his teachings. In a tone of irony, the Russian joked that, given Daniel's physique, it would not be possible to achieve a submission like he did with Gaethje.

“Tell people, you didn’t teach me. You don't know what this strangulation is. Your legs? No no. (…) Healthy legs are too fat for chokes”, joked Nurmagomedov.

To respond to his friend's provocation, Cormier also spoke about the physical condition of the champion, who is officially retired.

“I may be a fat retired man, but guess what… Remember that 'six pack' you showed off before the fight?” joked DC, touching the Russian's stomach.
