Previously ranked 4th, McGregor made his return to the octagon after just over a year of inactivity. In the confrontation with Poirier, the MMA phenomenon had a good first round, but ended up falling victim to his rival's heavy hands, which surprised him in the second stage.
It is not yet known what Conor's next step will be within Ultimate. The Irishman, however, has already expressed his interest in promoting a rematch against Dustin. If the confrontation takes place, the event will mark the end of the trilogy between them. In the first meeting, in 2014, 'Notório' came out on top, defeating the North American in the opening minutes of the contest.
No UFC 257, McGregor represented the main bait for the return of Khabib Nurmagomedov to sport. Retired since October 2020, the Russian could be encouraged to return if the Irishman promoted a great show last weekend. Conor's result, then, was like a bucket of cold water for those who would like to see the champion in action again.
Chandler in the top 5
Sadness for some, joy for others. Newcomer of the night in the show on the 23rd, Michael chandler made all the expectations placed on his talent worth it. Former Bellator champion, the North American put on a real show against Dan Hooker and won in the first round with a hard knockout.
After the result, the athlete ended up being included in the top 5 and occupied 4th position, previously taken by McGregor. Now, in addition to a great debut, Chandler is putting himself in a prominent position for a future title fight.
