Although he suffered the biggest defeat of his career last weekend, for UFC 257, in Abu Dhabi, Conor McGregor you can find good reasons to smile. Even heavily defeated by Dustin poirier, the Irishman raised millionaire figures, reaching almost R$60.500 per second spent in the Octagon. The information was released by the English newspaper, 'The Independent'.

It comes as no surprise to anyone that, since becoming a double UFC champion in 2016, Conor's popularity has increased considerably. With star status, the athlete became the biggest commercial phenomenon in the history of MMA, even promoting a multi-million dollar boxing fight against the legendary Floyd Mayweather in 2017.
For UFC 257, McGregor, who hadn't fought since January 2020, also won a lot. To return to active duty, the 'Notório' earned US$5 million (around R$27,3 million), an amount far above what other athletes in the organization receive.
In the main fight, however, Conor ended up having the worst night of his career. After a good first round, the Irishman ended up feeling the weight of Poirier's hands and succumbed with a knockout – something, until then, unprecedented in his career – in the second round.
The setback marked the fifth negative result in the record of the former featherweight (up to 65,7kg) and lightweight (up to 70,3kg) champion. Frustrated after a performance below expectations, McGregor has already assured that he will compete again and suggested a trilogy against Dustin, whom he beat in their first meeting, in 2014.
