Fight between McGregor and Poirier is the 'biggest non-title fight' in UFC history, says Dana

UFC president Dana White classified this Saturday's rematch (23) between Conor McGregor e Dustin poirier as the biggest non-title fight in UFC history. According to the president, the main attraction of the UFC 257, in Abu Dhabi, could be one of the biggest successes in terms of packages sold, even if it is not worth the light weight belt (up to 70,3kg.).

“Yes, not only is it the biggest non-title fight we've ever done, but it will also be one of the biggest-selling pay-per-view fights of all time,” said Dana White, in an interview with 'BT Sport'.

Conor McGregor tends to break sales records for pay-per-view in their struggles. Currently, the Irishman was in the main fight of the five most watched events in the history of Ultimate, according to the North American newspaper 'Tapology'. Coincidentally, three of them were not worth the belt – two against Nate diaz and his last, against Donald Cerrone -, marks that can be hit on the UFC 257.

The Irishman aims to win the fight and have another rematch, this time against Khabib Nurmagomedov. In their first fight, Conor was submitted in the fourth round, in 2018. At 32 years old, he is coming off a victory against Donald Cerrone, UFC 246, in January of 2020.

At 32, Dustin poirier promises a different outcome than the first fight – when he was knocked out in the first round, in 2014 – and wants to get to his second title fight. The North American was defeated against Khabib Nurmagomedov, UFC 242. However, he recovered in a 'war' against Dan Hooker, in June 2020, when he won in a unanimous decision by the judges.
