One of the most anticipated events of the year is close to happening. This Saturday (23), the phenomenon Conor McGregor will return to the Octagon after a year and exchange forces against Dustin poirier in the main fight of UFC 257, in Abu Dhabi. Before the clash, the protagonists will face each other for a press conference, this Thursday (21), which is scheduled to start at 10 am. The meeting marks the repeat of a clash played in 2014, in which 'Notório' got the better of 'Diamante'.

Although there is no belt at stake, the fight between Conor and Dustin represents a lot for the lightweight division (under 70,3kg). Ultimate's president, Dana White, has already made it public that the winner of the duel will have their passport stamped to compete for the group's title, which today belongs to Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Last Saturday (16), the current champion, who has been retired since October 2020, revealed that he will follow the event. In the speech, revealed by White, the Russian admits the possibility of returning to the sport, if he sees something 'spectacular' between the athletes who will star in the last two clashes of the show.
While McGregor hasn't stepped into the octagon since UFC 246, Poirier, last season, had one of the best fights of the season. On that occasion, the North American surpassed Dan Hooker, in July, and got back on track after losing to Khabib (in 2019) in a fight to unify the belt.
