Ben Henderson is named UFC Fighter of the Year

He surpassed names like Jon Jones, second place, Cain Velazquez, fifth, and Anderson Silva, elected only the ninth best fighter of the season.

Henderson's perfect year began in February at UFC 144, when he defeated then-champion Frankie Edgar and won the lightweight belt. As the duel was closely contested, the former champion got an immediate rematch, at UFC 150, in August, but was once again defeated by the judges' decision. At UFC on FOX 5, in December, “Bendo” proved his supremacy in the category and dominated Nate diaz, defending the lightweight belt for the second time in 2012.
