The first numbered card of the year could bring big news to the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg.). According to Dana White, the winner of the confrontation between Conor McGregor e Dustin poirier, UFC 257, on January 23, should be the next challenger for the category belt, which currently belongs to Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“Whoever wins the fight is probably next in line,” said White, in an interview with 'ESPN'.
It is not yet known how the category will unfold in relation to its throne. Although Khabib remains champion in the official UFC rankings, the Russian remains firm in his decision to remain retired.
One of the difficulties encountered with regard to Conor, Poirier and Khabib is the fact that the 'Eagle' has already defeated both athletes. McGregor, in 2018 and Dustin, in 2019.
Today, the North American is in second place in the group, behind only Justin gaethje and Nurmagomedov. Former linear champion of the category, McGregor is fourth.
