According to him, the North American finds it difficult to execute his game when under pressure, like the fight against Max Holloway, in December 2018. In an interview with the South China Morning Post, Volkanovski revealed what he expects from the fight, which should take place in February 2021.
“I believe I will break it the way Max (Holloway) did. I believe it's a place where I can execute my pressing style. It's a fun fight for me because I believe I can touch him. People want to see this. I don’t care how much he’s preparing, because I’ll still be able to get in his head, in his face, and crush him,” reveals the champion.
Despite pointing out that it will pass with ease against Brian ortega, the Australian also made a point of praising his opponent.
“He’s a dangerous (fighter), don’t get me wrong. He's already knocked out a lot of guys, so obviously I'll be paying attention. But there are levels to it and I believe my pressure is on a totally different level than a lot of people in this world have felt,” he concluded.
At 32 years old, Alexandre Volkanovski has a record of 22 wins and only one loss in MMA. Currently, he is on a streak of 19 consecutive victories. In July 2020, the Australian defended his featherweight belt against Max Holloway, UFC 251, in the judges' split decision.
