A new year has begun and Deiveson Figueiredo wants to continue making history with UFC gloves. After defending his flyweight title for the second time (up to 56,7kg), the Brazilian continues dreaming of a superfight against Henry Cejudo, retired almost eight months ago. To 'hook' the North American, the 'God of War' proposed the creation of a new 'Thick-Skinned' (BMF) belt and, thus, be able to compete with the 'Triple C' in catch weight.

“I want a super fight for the BMF (Mais Casca-Grossa) belt. If the UFC wants it, I'm in. It would be another big fight to put my name forward”, said the Brazilian, in an interview with 'MMA fighting'.

The desire to face Cejudo comes up against the conditions of the North American, who does not deny that his return to MMA depends on a great financial proposal. The weight, too, would be an obstacle, since the former flyweight champion played among the bantamweights (up to 61,2kg.) in recent years and undergoing such a severe dehydration process is, at first, out of the question. of consideration.

“They could make a belt between flyweight and bantamweight. Combine a weight and see who is the 'Thickest' among the lightest. I don't want to face Cejudo, man. He talks too much. He's always talking about someone. I want to stop him and shut him up”, concluded Figueiredo.

In December, Deiveson left his name in the history of Ultimate as the first man to defend a belt twice in a span of 21 days. For the UFC 255, the Brazilian maintained his throne against Alex Perez. Less than a month later, he would fight an epic battle against Brandon Moreno, which ended in a draw.

After a marathon of fights, there is still no prediction as to when Figueiredo will return to action. UFC president Dana White confirmed the immediate rematch with the Mexican, but guaranteed a period of rest for both athletes.

Out of action since May 2020, when it surpassed Dominick Cruz, retained the bantamweight belt and, subsequently, announced his retirement, Cejudo continues to dream of an unprecedented achievement. The North American has frequently challenged the featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg), Alexander Volkanovsky. If he beat the Australian, Cejudo would become the first in the history of Ultimate to win three titles in different categories.
