Leonard Garcia remains in the UFC, even after his fourth consecutive defeat

Leonard garciaSpeculation about dismissal always surrounds fighters with negative streaks in their records. And Leonard Garcia had three failures in a row: against Jung Chan-Sung, Nam Phan and Matt Grice. However, even after a new defeat this Saturday, to Max Holloway in a fight on the preliminary card of UFC 155, the “Bad Boy”, as he is known, has his job in the UFC guaranteed.

During the press conference that followed the event held in Las Vegas, UFC president, Dana White, stated that the fighter is guaranteed to join the organization. White confided that Sean Shelby, one of matchmakers (fight matchmakers) from the UFC, came to him during the fight and said: “Dana, I don’t want to cut that face”. The manager reported that he promptly rejected the possibility of firing Garcia.

By continuing in the UFC after four consecutive defeats, Leonard Garcia repeats a rare feat, recently only accomplished by Englishman Dan Hardy. After losing the title fight to Georges St-Pierre, Hardy was subsequently defeated by Carlos Condit, Anthony Johnson and Chris Lytle. Even so, supported by Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta, he remained in the organization and beat Duane Ludwing at UFC 146.
