the fight between Khamzat Shimaev x Leon edwards it's canceled. The duel, which would have been the main attraction of Ultimate on January 20th, on Ilha da Luta, fell through after Chimaev tested positive for COVID-19. The information was first released by the Russian agency 'RT Sports'.

The Swedish-born Chechen is ranked 15th in the rankings and caught the attention of MMA lovers after achieving three victories which, combined, were finished in 4m38s. Currently, he has an undefeated record of nine victories.

Edwards is third in the category and has won a sequence of eight consecutive victories, the most recent being against the Brazilian Rafael dos Anjos, which took place at UFC San Antonio, in July 2019. With a history of 18 positive results and three negative results, the Brit has not lost since 2015, against the current welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg), Kamaru Usman.

For the second time the fight is cancelled. The fight would be the main attraction of the UFC Las Vegas 17, the franchise's last event in 2020, which took place on December 19th. However, at the time, it was Leon edwards who contracted the disease and had to be removed from the card.
