The former UFC middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg), Chris Weidman, is not experiencing the best moment in his career. With five defeats in his last seven fights, the North American knows that there is a risk of being fired from Ultimate if he loses to Uriah Hall No. UFC 258, which takes place on Fight Island, Abu Dhabi, on February 13th. However, the executioner of Anderson Silva states that he wouldn't be surprised if it was cut.
“I’m not too worried about it, but I wouldn’t be surprised. There is nothing that surprises me more. I don't think I'm more special than anyone else. (…) If I don’t prove that I’m a world-class fighter and that I’m still ready to be a contender for the title, then yes, I could be fired,” said Weidman, in an interview with the North American website Fanatics View.

UFC president Dana White announced that the promotion should hold until 60 layoffs in the coming weeks. And, for Chris, the reason for the layoffs is the financial side.
“It really puts everyone in a risky position. (…), if you're not winning (fights) now and you're getting paid a lot of money for it, it seems like they're trying to get rid of and bring in these younger guys who don't get paid as much money,” he concluded.
At 36, Chris Weidman has a record of 15 wins and five losses. He became middleweight champion by knocking out Anderson Silva, at UFC 162, in 2013. The North American also defended the title on three occasions: the rematch against 'Spider' himself and the fights against the Brazilians Lyoto Machida e Vitor belfort, before losing the belt against Luke Rockhold, in December 2015. Currently, it comes from a positive result against Omari Akhmedov No. UFC Las Vegas 6, which took place in August 2020.
