“She is a good grappler (ground game) and it will be an interesting fight. Since I was going to fight her in June and then changed to Molly McCann, we had a pretty ready game plan for her. I'm sure Robertson will look for a fight on the ground, so we'll try to keep her standing and look for the knockout,” said Taila.
The Brazilian would face Mountain Rose at UFC Vegas 16, which took place two weeks ago. However, her fight was canceled just hours before the event began, as one of the American's coaches tested positive for COVID-19. Despite this, the Brazilian revealed that the weight cut in a short period of time did not influence the final process for the fight against Robertson.
“I had just gained weight and was resting in my room. Then my coach came in and told me what happened. I was a little upset at first, because I had already gained weight and was ready to fight. (…) No matter how little it is, hitting (the weight) twice so close is not comfortable. But it was fine, after I hydrated it went up a little and I went back to the diet. I didn’t go much higher than the limit”, he added.
Taila Santos was discovered by Dana White in an edition of the 'Contender Series' in Brazil, which took place in August 2018, when she beat Estefani Almeida in a unanimous decision. Now, it comes from triumph before Molly McCann, in July 2020, in UFC Fight Island 1. At 27 years old, she has a record of 16 positive results and one negative.
