The former UFC and Strikeforce women's bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg), Miesha Tate, demonstrated his desire to compete again. Four years after she announced her retirement after being defeated by Rachel Pennington, at UFC 205, the North American discussed the possibility of facing Chris Cyborg in a fight grapple and also talked about a possible return to MMA.

“I have six fights left on my UFC contract (…), so if I wanted to fight, it couldn't be anywhere else. You wouldn't see me appear in another organization because obviously I can't do that legally. I would like to fight, and you know, Cyborg called me for a fight grapple. That piques my interest,” Tate said in an interview with the North American website Fanatics View.

Tate and Cyborg almost faced each other in the past, when the 'Cupcake' still held the bantamweight title. At the time, the negotiation did not work out because Miesha was the Ultimate champion, which made it impossible to hold a catchweight duel.

What about MMA?

After declaring her interest in performing in grappling, the American says she 'was exhausted' from MMA in the last years of her career, but does not exclude the possibility of a return.

“Right now I’m just focused on having fun. That's something I wasn't able to do in the latter part of my career. The last two years of my career were really tough and a lot of that had to do with my personal life. I wasn't having fun, I was exhausted, to be honest. (…) I want to compete again, I want to fight, I want to get in great shape and I want to have fun and that’s what I’m doing,” she concluded.

Miesha Tate is a former UFC and Strikeforce bantamweight champion. Since retiring in 2016, she has continued to work as vice president, ambassador and commentator for the ONE Championship organization. The American ended her career with a record of 18 triumphs and seven setbacks.
