The fight between heavyweights (up to 120.2 kg.) Curtis blaydes e Derrick Lewis should have happened in UFC Las Vegas 15, on the 28th. But it ended up being canceled after Blaydes tested positive for Covid-19. However, the event is already planning to reschedule the fight for the beginning of 2021.

In an interview with the North American website Fanatics View, Blaydes revealed that the fight was being negotiated for the UFC Fight Island 8, on January 20th. However, the duel between the welterweights (up to 77,1 kg) Leon edwards e Khamzat Shimaev 'jumped the queue' and should be the main event of the show.
“The UFC is trying to reschedule. (The fight) was scheduled for January 20th, but I think now there is a new main event for the card. So, we were postponed until February 20th (UFC Las Vegas). However, I haven't received a contract yet. (…), but I know they are working to achieve this (date)”, said Blaydes.
Currently, Curtis occupies second place in the heavyweight rankings, while Lewis is fourth in the rankings. Both fighters are hoping for one last fight before the title. The winner of the duel is expected to face the current champion Stipe Miocic or the next challenger Francis Ngannou, which also does not yet have a set date.
