“So far, it is pure speculation, but there is a high chance, 90% chance that Anthony Johnson be the first to face Yoel romero (at Bellator)”, said the Cuban.
At 43 years old and with 18 fights as a professional in MMA, Romero has not performed since his defeat to Israel adesanya, in the fight for the category belt. At the time, the 'Soldier of God' ended up suffering his fourth defeat in the last five fights, confirming his bad phase.
Romero was confirmed as an opponent of Uriah Hall, in a confrontation that would take place on August 22, for Ultimate. The Cuban, however, ended up leaving the show. Months later, the athlete was included on a list of exemptions that should include around 60 names.
Recently, Bellator president Scott Coker stated that the Cuban will be integrated into the organization to play in the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg). In the UFC, Yoel, for years, haunted the middleweight category (up to 83,9kg.).
Without fighting for over three years, Anthony's transfer to Bellator ended up taking some fans by surprise. Since last year, the fighter has been flirting with a return to MMA. In 2020, the athlete confirmed his return and the new commitment was expected to take place in the UFC, where he fought his last fights. The fighter, however, chose to sign with the competitor.
Might not have to wait very long for Romero x Rumble 😳
