The complicated phase and the three consecutive defeats in his record did not shake the confidence of the former UFC heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) champion, junior gypsy. This Saturday (12), at UFC 256, the Brazilian will have another acid test in the organization, when he will exchange forces against the promising and undefeated Cyryl Gane. Faced with yet another challenge, the Santa Catarina native exuded optimism and analyzed this weekend's clash, even talking about his desire to regain his old belt.

“My last results were not good. They were really bad, actually. Now, I'm trying to make a difference, winning a victory on Saturday and moving forward with my career”, said the Brazilian, in a press conference for 'half day' of the event.

Without winning since March last year, Júnior accumulated setbacks for Francis Ngannou, Curtis blaydes e Jairzinho Rozenstruik in the last rounds. The former category leader then tried to justify the bad phase, but bet on work as the best way to overcome the moment.

“We try to understand that sometimes things go wrong because the result is not there. It wasn't expected, but I feel amazing. I was doing well in the last few fights and, if you analyze the fights, I was winning up to a certain point. I was caught and my opponents got the victory”, said the Brazilian.

Confident that he will have his hand raised at the end of the confrontation on Saturday, Cigano made no secret of the fact that he still has the dream of regaining the belt he held between 2011 and 2012. Current number seven in the rankings, the Santa Catarina native wants to defeat one of the promises for the future of the category and prove that it still remains one of the dangerous names for the group led by Stipe Miocic.

“My performance is there, the strength, the conditioning, my desire to be champion. I feel all of this. Of course, I will do my best to change things and get back on the path to victory”, he concluded.
