After overcoming Matt Wiman with a devastating knockout in the opening seconds of the fight,, pinning his rival's head against the floor of the octagon, the athlete analyzed the situation and surprised by stating that the blow should not be valid in the sport.

“I agree 100% that sport would be safer if actions like those were not allowed. But when you're in the Octagon, you have to decide, 'Am I going to pay the rent tonight or am I going to put my family in an unstable position?' I think everyone would do what I did”, said the fighter, in an interview with 'TMZ Sports'.
In the fight against Wiman, everything happened very quickly. Representatives of the lightweight category (up to 70,3kg), Jordan and Matt opened the main card of the show. After the referee's authorization, Leavitt needed just 22 seconds to settle the score, lifting the opponent and pinning him to the ground with his head, which immediately put the opponent out.
“I think this blow is ugly, dangerous. Even if I didn't hit him with the back of the head, there are dozens of fights where that happens. If it falls like that, unless you have a tight finish, I don't think it's justifiable. I would rather have won any other way. I'm happy, it's a high point for my career, but it's not how I wanted it to be”, he concluded.
With the triumph, Leavitt reached his eighth appearance as a professional in MMA and remains undefeated in his career. Matt, in turn, got into trouble in the UFC. Now, the veteran has four defeats in his last five fights and is at serious risk of being released by the organization.
