McGregor and Poirier sign contract and Ultimate confirms fight for UFC 257

It's official. After approximately a month of negotiations, Ultimate finally confirmed the confrontation between Conor McGregor e Dustin poirier protocols for UFC 257, on January 13th, with no location yet defined. The athletes settled the financial bases and signed the contract for the confrontation, which could define the next challenger for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg). The information was released by the company on social media.

The company's management began negotiating with the athletes after the Irishman and the American proposed an exhibition fight outside the company. At the time, the athletes were dissatisfied with their situations.

While Poirier demanded greater financial value from the company, Conor complained about the fact that he was not considered to fight for the lightweight title in 2020. Angered, the 'Notorious' even confirmed his retirement in June, but reversed his decision.

While Dustin tries to confirm his good form, as he is coming off a big win over Dan HookerIn June, McGregor will make his return to the Octagon. On January 23, the Irishman will have completed a year without performing. Conor's last appointment was at UFC 246, earlier this year, when he ran over Donald Cerrone with a knockout in less than a minute.

Current number two in the ranking led by Khabib Nurmagomedov, Poirier is looking for a new chance to compete for the group's linear title. McGregor, fourth in the category, is looking to regain the belt he won in 2016.
