If Ariane Lipski had impressed in her last performance, she was unable to repeat her good performance against Antonina Shevchenko. On UFC 255, an event held this Saturday (21), in Las Vegas, USA, the Brazilian was defeated by the older sister of the flyweight champion (56,7kg). The 'Queen of Violence' was unable to stop her opponent's attacks on the ground and was knocked out in the second round.

The tough setback ended Ariane's good time in the UFC. Before facing Antonina, the 26-year-old from Curitiba had won two consecutive fights and was looking for a third victory to join the top-15 of the category.

The fight

The beginning of the fight showed the quality that Antonina Shevchenko and Ariane Lipski have striking skills. Both advanced and landed powerful blows on each other. Despite Antonina being a muay thai world champion, apparently, it was the Brazilian who got the better of the exchange. Afterwards, Antonina took the Brazilian to the fence, made plenty of use of the muay thai clinch and applied a nice takedown. On the ground, the Kyrgyz athlete almost lost her position to the Brazilian, but managed to gain the upper hand and scored by throwing punches without much power.

The second round began identically. Ariane applied a beautiful and powerful right to Antonina, who attacked, went to the clinch and then took down. With the Brazilian on the ground, underneath, the Kyrgyz athlete dominated the actions. In addition to showing good progress in grappling, Antonina noticed that Ariane was uncomfortable and attacked the Brazilian heavily, who did not resist.

The good performance of Antonina Shevchenko It was a birthday gift she gave herself, as she turned 36 on Friday (20). In the post-fight interview, the Kyrgyz athlete celebrated the fact that she managed to fight well on the ground, as this was always her weak point and cost her the defeat against Katlyn chookagian. This was the veteran's third victory in five appearances in the UFC, who is looking to step out of the shadow of her sister, Valentina.

Brandon Moreno gets closer to the flyweight belt

PUBLICITY:

There's no doubt. If the fight between Brandon Moreno e Brandon royval could define the next flyweight challenger (56,7kg), the former's performance has everything to confirm this position. The Mexican simply mistreated his opponent. The 26-year-old promise was active and easily confirmed his favoritism, even in the first round.

As expected, the combat was quite busy and exciting. The talented Moreno was superior on his feet and, on the ground, almost finished Royval. If the rear naked choke was wasted, the knockout was not. Still on the ground, Moreno ended the fight by delivering hard blows to his opponent, with one second remaining before the round ended. The attacks were so intense that they dislocated Royval's shoulder.

This was the third consecutive victory for Brandon Moreno in the UFC, which remains undefeated since returning to the organization. Excited by his beautiful triumph, the athlete asked to face the winner of the main fight of the UFC 255, between the champion, Deiveson Figueiredo, and Alex Perez.

Joaquin Buckley delivers another brutal knockout

He did it again. In the last fight, Joaquin buckley shocked the world by delivering one of the most beautiful knockouts in MMA history to Impa Kasanganay and taking away his unbeaten record. However, the fighter was not satisfied and claimed another victim. This time, 'New Mansa' was not aware of Jordan wright and took down another undefeated athlete.

In the first round, Buckley did not deny the best that God gave him and went all out on his opponent. Confident and powerful, he ignored the fact that he was smaller and came close to knocking him out, especially in the final minute. If Wright survived the initial storm, he succumbed soon after. Buckley needed just 18 seconds to knock out his opponent in the second round. He simply shot his opponent, who fell unconscious.

This was the second impressive knockout applied by Joaquin buckley in three appearances in the UFC, all in 2020. It is worth remembering that 'New Mansa' was defeated in his debut by Kevin holland, but, even accepting the fight at the last minute, he also scared the executioner. The 26-year-old American is a promise that has found favor with Dana White and the public and, if it is up to him, he will return to the Octagon in 2020, as he has asked to face James Krause.

Alan Jouban dominates on his return

Not even the fact of being out of action for a year and a half stopped Alan Jouban from having a good performance on his return. Known for being Cristiano Ronaldo's lookalike in MMA, the 38-year-old veteran impressed by beating the newcomer Jared Gooden. It's true that 'Brahma' went through some scares in the first round and was shaken, as his opponent has a good level, but when he entered the fight, he was superior both on the feet and on the ground.

The second round was a monologue. Jouban took no notice of Gooden and was sovereign. The veteran threw low kicks, landed crosses, straight shots and came close to knocking him out a few times. The third round was intense and exciting. The athletes alternated good moments aiming to end the fight quickly and, when trying to take down Jouban, Gooden fell into a guillotine choke in the final minute and was, literally, saved by the bell.

The important victory gives Alan Jouban motivation to face the final phase of his career, ending his bad phase and removing any risk of dismissal. Previously, the athlete had been defeated three times in the last four fights.

Sasha Palatnikov wins war in his debut

Sasha Palatnikov and Louis Cosce debuted in the UFC and didn't feel the familiar pressure of performing on the biggest MMA stage in the world, as the duo went all or nothing from the start. The Hong Kong athlete bet on volume and the North American attacked based on power.

Halfway through the first round, several dangerous blows landed on the athletes' faces and bodies and, in one of them, Palatnikov suffered a knockdown. However, he surprised by resisting the harsh punishment applied by Cosce and, little by little, he balanced his actions. After the scare, it was his turn to attack the North American who, tired, was also almost knocked out.

In the second round, the pace dropped, but good moments also happened. In them, Palatnikov stood out and took advantage of the fact that he was bigger and less tired. In the last five minutes, Palatnikov was also superior and managed to give final numbers to the fight, when Cosce tried to apply a takedown without success. On the ground and exhausted, the American was easy prey for his opponent's punches, which only stopped when the referee interrupted.

Despite accepting the fight at the last minute, Sasha Palatnikov ignored the little time he had to prepare, achieved a great comeback victory and left a good impression. Louis Cosce lost his unbeaten record when he was the favorite. The 25-year-old was revealed on the program Dana White Contender Series and he had everything he needed to extend his winning streak, but he couldn't get a knockout in the first round and ended up getting knocked out in the third.
