The relationship between Daniel Cormier e Jon Jones, which was never good, is worse than ever. If the most recent discussion was due to the fact that 'DC' ignored his rival in the fight for the status of the best fighter in the history of MMA, this time, another point was addressed. The former UFC light heavyweight (93kg) and heavyweight (120,2kg) champion did not forget and condemned the outburst that his rival had on social media, after his friend, Khabib Nurmagomedov, have defeated Justin gaethje.

In an interview with the North American website MMA Junkie, Cormier believes that fighters' ego is something that must be worked on, as many do everything to continue to be highlighted and, thus, end up taking the shine away from those who, in fact, deserve it. The current commentator of ESPN American justified her reasoning, citing the Jones/Khabib case as an example of behavior that should not be engaged in.

“Athletes have egos. Fighters don't want to stay away from the spotlight and, therefore, many like to draw attention. When one stands out, give him your time, let him have his moment. The biggest example of this was Jones with Khabib. He lost his mind! The moment was not his. Under the circumstances, Khabib performed great and many said he is the best. Okay, people have been saying for years that Jones is the best and that shouldn't offend him to the point where he responds to almost everyone. How do you respond to people when you have so many followers? Leave your ego aside, relax and don't do something wrong at inappropriate times. Sometimes certain athletes only have one and must take advantage of it. We have been blessed with so many. Athletes need to understand that it is not wrong to give others space. It doesn't have to be about him all the time, especially when something awesome happens,” Cormier said.

The case cited by Daniel Cormier it generated a lot of discussion in the MMA community. One party understood and agreed to see Jon Jones defending his position as the best fighter in the history of the sport. Another condemned the attitude and harshly criticized him, calling him insensitive and selfish, for not letting Khabib Nurmagomedov enjoy the great victory, after the loss of his father.
