The light heavyweight Alexander Gustafson defeated the Brazilian Mauricio Shogun at UFC on FOX 5, an event held last Saturday (08), in Seattle, United States, and won the right to compete for the light heavyweight belt. But the Swedish fighter could return to the octagon to face another Brazilian athlete before competing for the organization's title.

Franchise president Dana White revealed that Dan Henderson, scheduled to fight against Lyoto Machida at UFC 157, on February 23rd, he is not fully recovered from a knee injury – suffered in August this year – and Gustafsson could be the replacement and face the Brazilian karateka on the show.

“I keep hearing that the knee of Dan Henderson is not yet fully healed. So maybe he (Gustafsson) will be able to fight Machida at UFC 157,” said Dana White, in an interview after UFC on FOX 5.

Gustafsson showed that he is not prepared to take on Jon Jones… he better train more and take on Machida, and then yes, whoever wins is the best opponent for the champion!
Regarding Shogun, he demonstrated that it is time to retire and leave the ring… now there will hardly be time for him to win 3 or 4 fights and try to get the title again…
