Facing the American Mike Easton, who was on an eight-fight winning streak, Raphael showed a good game of dodges, speed, forcefulness in the counterattack to hit his opponent and win the contest with a unanimous decision from the judges.
With an intelligent game, the Brazilian thwarted almost all of his rival's attack attempts. With good arm feints and speed to escape the American's attacks, Assunção ended the dodge with an exit blow, actions that frustrated his rival.
