This weekend, the UFC renewed its broadcast contract in Brazil. For another 15 years, Rede Globosat, which owns the Combate and SporTV channels, has had the broadcasting rights for all Ultimate events.
The contract, which runs until 2027, guarantees broadcasting rights to Canal Combate. Now, it remains to be seen whether SporTV, which in the current contract has the right to show three events per year, also entered into the new agreement.
In 2011, the company had extended the contract for three years, but with the arrival of FOX Sports in Brazil – UFC's main partner in broadcasts in the United States – and the increase in public interest in the event led the directors to renew the contract for a long period.
